ParakeetAI alternatives (2026)

For people who like paying per interview, but not $38 for a single hour or $177 up front for the low rate.

Updated October 28, 2026. Rival prices verified October 2026.

ParakeetAI does something most of this category does not: it lets you skip the subscription. You buy credits, one credit covers an hour of call time, half a credit covers 30 minutes, and the credits never expire. If that is why you chose it, the picks below are ranked with the same idea in mind.

The catch is how the price falls with pack size. A single credit costs $38, and the rate drops to $11.80 an hour only in the 15-credit pack, which is $177 paid up front. With one or two interviews lined up, you pay close to the top rate. The picks below are ranked by how well they deal with that, and the last sections cover when ParakeetAI is still the better tool.

Full disclosure: PiriPiri AI is our product. It is ranked first and we make the case for it plainly, but every other tool’s price on this page is its own published price, linked to the page we read it from, so you can check each one yourself.

Why people who like ParakeetAI still look around

The cheap hour sits behind the biggest pack. ParakeetAI sells credits in four sizes: 1 for $38, 3 for $59, 8 for $118 (6 plus 2 free) and 15 for $177 (9 plus 6 free). The $11.80 rate is the 15-credit pack. That is a fair price per hour, but it asks you to guess, before your search has properly started, that you will need about fifteen hours of help.

A short search pays the most per hour. A single final round on one credit costs $38. Two interviews on single credits cost $76, so the three-pack at $59, or $19.67 a credit, is the better buy once you have two or three lined up. Both rates sit well above the bulk one.

Some people only want help on the call itself. ParakeetAI credits can also be spent on its question bank, mock interviews, resume downloads and AI headshots, and the unlimited plans include all of them. That suits you if you want those tools; if your resume is done, most of what the plans add is something you will not use.

On a Mac, there is also how it hears the call. ParakeetAI’s FAQ says its desktop app captures a display to get the call audio, which is why macOS asks for Screen Recording permission, and that the picture stays on your device and is never uploaded. If you would rather a tool took only the sound, check how each app gets it.

It also does a lot well. Credits never expire. Calls are billed in 30-minute halves, and an active session extends itself by another half credit when the timer runs out unless you switch that off. End a charge within five minutes and it comes back, once per session. The free tier is 10 sessions of up to 10 minutes each, plus one free mock interview. The desktop app on Mac and Windows is hidden from screen sharing by the operating system. It supports 50+ languages, runs in desktop Chrome on Linux, handles phone calls over Google Voice, and never joins your call as a participant.

What 1, 3 and 10 interviews cost

These examples assume each interview runs about an hour: one credit on ParakeetAI, one paid session on PiriPiri AI (a paid session runs 60 minutes). ParakeetAI shows different prices by country; the figures here are the ones it shows visitors in the US and UK.

One interview. ParakeetAI: $38 for a single credit. PiriPiri AI: about $2.50 per interview on the entry pack. You buy a small pack rather than a single hour, and whatever you do not use stays in your account. Ophy AI: $9.99 for an Interview Pass, which covers one session of up to two hours. Final Round AI: Pro, advertised from $25 a month, because its free plan does not include live sessions.

Three interviews. ParakeetAI: $59 for the three-pack, or $19.67 a credit. PiriPiri AI: still about $2.50 each. Ophy AI: $19.99 for three passes. Final Round AI: the same Pro plan, as long as all three fall inside your billing period.

Ten interviews. ParakeetAI has no ten-pack, so in credits you spend $177 either way: the 15-credit pack, or the 8-credit pack plus a three-pack. If all ten land in one week, its $78 weekly plan with unlimited call sessions costs less, and so does the $149.90 monthly plan if they fit inside a month. PiriPiri AI comes down to $1.45 per session on its largest pack. Ophy AI’s Pro plan is $29 a month and, by Ophy’s own count, covers about 20 Standard copilot sessions, though those credits are shared with its other tools. Final Round AI’s Pro includes unlimited live sessions.

Call length matters too. ParakeetAI bills half a credit per 30 minutes, so a 40-minute call uses a full credit and a 70-minute call uses one and a half. An Ophy pass runs up to two hours. Look at how long your rounds actually run before you choose a pack size. If you pay in rupees, ParakeetAI and PiriPiri AI both accept UPI.

The ranking

1. PiriPiri AI: a low price per interview without a big pack

Pricing: $2.50 / hour · one price per session
Free to try: 3 sessions free · no card
Hidden on screen share: Included on every plan
Runs on: Desktop app for macOS (Apple Silicon) and Windows 10 or 11

PiriPiri AI also sells one-time packs instead of a subscription, but you do not need a big pack to get a low price per interview. It works out to about $2.50 per interview on the entry pack and $1.45 per session on the largest. Packs never expire, and no subscription is required. You start with 3 free sessions of 10 minutes each and no card, enough to test your setup in a practice call before you spend anything. Coming from ParakeetAI, the habit that changes is billing: a session is one price whether the interview runs half an hour or the full 60 minutes, rather than half-credit steps. In India, prices are in rupees and you can pay by UPI.

It is a desktop app for macOS and Windows that hears both sides of the call: your microphone, and the interviewer’s voice from your computer’s sound output. Nothing joins the meeting, and it works with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, or a call running in your browser. On a Mac, the interviewer’s audio comes in through a Core Audio process tap, which captures sound only, with no screen recording running. That part needs macOS 14.2 or later; on macOS 13 the microphone side still works.

During the call you see a live transcript of both speakers, and an answer starts drafting as soon as the question is asked. If no answer appears, press the Answer now hotkey. Deep dive asks the current question again for a fuller answer, which helps when the interviewer says “tell me more”. You can step back through earlier answers, and Analyze screen answers what is in front of you, such as a coding problem or a case chart.

Before the interview you upload your CV, paste the job description, and pick your role and an answer style, so the drafts draw on your own experience. Each role, from software engineering and product management to consulting, finance, sales, healthcare and teaching, has its own guidance for the questions that role gets. A system design question is answered with the constraints, the components and the trade-off you chose; a “tell me about a time” question gets one situation from your CV, what you did, and what changed.

The overlay is excluded from screen capture by the operating system on every plan, the free trial included, so there is no separate stealth tier to buy. Meeting apps change, though, so run a test share in your own meeting app before a real interview. Every action has a global hotkey, and the floating bar stays on top, can be dragged anywhere, and snaps to a screen edge.

Best for: People interviewing in English who want a low price per interview without buying fifteen hours up front.

Worth knowing: Speech recognition is English only, and it runs only as a desktop app on Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or newer) or Windows 10 and 11, with no browser, phone or Linux version. There is no question bank, mock interview or resume tool, and it comes from a newer company with a small team.

2. Ophy AI: a one-time pass with a two-hour cap

Pricing: $9.99 one-time pass · $29/mo Pro · $59/mo Premium (source)
Free to try: First session free (15 min)
Hidden on screen share: Desktop app hidden by the OS
Runs on: macOS and Windows desktop app, plus web and phone apps

Ophy AI also lets you pay per interview, with a different unit. Its Interview Pass is a one-time purchase with no subscription: $9.99 covers one Standard Interview Copilot session of up to two hours, and three passes cost $19.99. A 90-minute panel interview still uses one pass, where on ParakeetAI it would use a credit and a half. If your rounds are often long panels, or several interviewers back to back on one call, that two-hour cap is the main reason to pick Ophy over ParakeetAI.

The copilot works with Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet. It transcribes the interviewer’s questions and suggests answers drawn from your resume and the job description, either in a picture-in-picture overlay in the browser or in a floating window in Ophy’s desktop app for Mac and Windows, which the operating system keeps out of screen capture. Ophy lists 35 supported languages. If you liked using ParakeetAI in a browser tab, Ophy has a browser version too.

Ophy is also a wider job search product. Its subscriptions, Pro at $29 a month and Premium at $59, run on credits shared across a resume builder, practice interviews, job search and an application assistant. Ophy says Pro covers about 20 Standard copilot sessions a month if you spend the credits on nothing else. The free plan includes a first copilot session capped at 15 minutes, with no card.

Best for: Someone with one or a few long interviews who wants to pay per interview, possibly in a language other than English.

Worth knowing: Passes are non-refundable and cover Interview Copilot only, not Ophy’s separate Coding Interview product, which needs the $59 Premium plan. If you share your screen, use the desktop app; the browser overlay relies on Ophy’s Whisper Mode instead, and either way a test share comes first.

3. Final Round AI: a subscription for a busy stretch

Pricing: From $25/mo · free plan (source)
Free to try: Free plan · live copilot needs Pro
Hidden on screen share: In the $25+/mo Pro plan
Runs on: macOS and Windows desktop app

If you expect many interviews in a short stretch, a subscription with unlimited sessions can cost less than credits. Final Round AI’s Pro plan is advertised from $25 a month, and its plans section lists unlimited live Interview CoPilot sessions with Stealth Mode included, switched on by default in the desktop app. A busy month costs the same as a quiet one.

The product is organized around Goals: the job you are chasing, with your resume and prep material attached, which the copilot draws on during the call. It also reads questions that appear on your screen, writes a short debrief after each session, and includes practice interviews. Final Round lists 143 languages and accents, and the desktop app runs on macOS and Windows.

The catch is that you commit before you can try it. Pro is shown as $25 and up, with other plan lengths behind a “See all plans” link, so check the billing term and total at checkout. The site says there is no free trial and that live sessions need an active Pro subscription; the free plan is for setting up Goals and preparing materials.

Against ParakeetAI’s own unlimited plan at $149.90 a month, Final Round AI advertises a lower monthly starting price, so compare the totals for the term you would actually buy. ParakeetAI does let you drop back to credits when the busy stretch ends, and Final Round’s plans list no pay-as-you-go option.

Best for: People with several interviews packed into the next few weeks who would rather pay one monthly price than count credits.

Worth knowing: There is no free live trial, and it bills as a subscription, so cancel when your search ends. Test the copilot and a screen share as soon as you subscribe.

4. Interview Coder: technical rounds and a lifetime price

Pricing: $299/mo · $799 lifetime (source)
Free to try: Free download
Hidden on screen share: Core feature
Runs on: macOS and Windows desktop app

Interview Coder’s name points at coding rounds, but its site lists system design, behavioral, full stack, AI and machine learning, consulting, data analyst, trading and product management interviews as well. It captures and transcribes the interviewer’s audio in real time, the vendor says its overlay stays hidden when you share your screen, and there are downloads for both Windows and Mac.

Its prices are the highest on this page. Monthly Pro is $299 with 1,000 usage credits a month, and Lifetime Pro is $799, paid once. The app itself is a free download, but its FAQ says AI features need a paid plan, so the free version is for looking around rather than for an interview.

The lifetime plan suits someone who expects to interview for technical roles over several years and wants to stop paying per hour. The nearest ParakeetAI option is its yearly plan at $599.90, which is a subscription, while Interview Coder’s $799 is paid once. Try both with questions from your own field before you pay for either.

If most of your rounds are online coding problems, test what each tool does with a problem that is on your screen rather than read aloud. ParakeetAI says it reads code shared on your screen, and PiriPiri AI has an Analyze screen hotkey for the same job, so both handle on-screen coding problems as well as spoken questions.

Best for: Engineers who expect to interview on and off for a long time and would rather pay once than keep buying hours.

Worth knowing: At $799, Lifetime Pro costs less than three months of the $299 plan, so the monthly plan only makes sense for a short burst. Its home page does not explain what a usage credit buys.

5. Cluely: built for meetings, with hiding on its top plan

Pricing: $19.99/mo · $149.99/mo for stealth (source)
Free to try: Free plan (limited)
Hidden on screen share: Only on the $149.99/mo tier
Runs on: macOS and Windows desktop app

Cluely’s pricing page pitches it for meetings, homework and sales calls, describes it as meeting AI that helps during the call, and does not mention interviews at all. It takes notes, answers in the moment, lets you upload files, and lets you ask about past meetings. It has desktop apps for macOS and Windows.

The free Starter plan has limited AI responses and note taking and allows up to three files. Pro is $19.99 a month for unlimited responses. Being hidden during a screen share is only on a separate, higher plan at $149.99 a month, so if you need that, the $19.99 price does not apply to you.

That makes Cluely a poor fit if price is your reason for leaving ParakeetAI. If you need screen share hiding, Cluely costs $149.99 a month, compared with $38 for a single ParakeetAI credit. It makes more sense if your working week is already full of calls, such as sales, client work or internal meetings, and the assistant earns its keep there.

Starter does not include screen share hiding, so you cannot test that part on the free plan. If an interview where you share your screen is the reason you are looking, that test only happens after you pay for the top plan.

Best for: People who mainly want notes and live answers during work calls, and would use it for an interview only now and then.

Worth knowing: Screen share hiding costs $149.99 a month, and its pricing page is written for meetings and does not describe interview features.

When staying with ParakeetAI is the better call

Stay if your interviews are not in English. ParakeetAI supports 50+ languages, one per session, while PiriPiri AI is English only; Ophy AI and Final Round AI also cover other languages, so compare those three. Stay too if you work on Linux or on a machine where you cannot install software, since ParakeetAI runs in desktop Chrome, or if you need help on a phone call, which it handles over Google Voice.

If you already hold credits, they never expire, so you can keep them while you try another tool. If most of your rounds are 30-minute screens, remember that ParakeetAI charges half a credit for those, and redo the sums on that basis. And for a single week crowded with interviews, compare its $78 weekly plan with unlimited call sessions against the credits you would need; the pricing page says you can cancel at any time, so cancel when the week ends.

How to test a replacement in a practice call

If the tool has a free live allowance, spend it on a rehearsal, not on a real interview. Open the meeting app you will actually use, start a call with a friend or a second device, and share your screen the way you will in the interview. Try a whole-screen share too, since that is the hardest case. Then look at what the other side sees and confirm the assistant is not on it. Read each tool’s own notes on meeting apps as well: ParakeetAI’s FAQ says that in Zoom you should update Zoom and turn on Advanced capture with window filtering, or ParakeetAI can show in what you share, and that its web version cannot hide itself at all.

While the call runs, check that the transcript puts each voice on the right side, that an answer appears for a question you did not type, and that the hotkeys work while another app has focus. Load your CV and the job description first, so you can see whether the answers draw on your own projects. On a Mac, PiriPiri AI needs macOS 14.2 or later to hear the interviewer, so check your version before the day.

Bring across what you gave ParakeetAI: it works from your CV, uploaded documents and an instructions field of up to 20,000 characters, and the CV and job description are the parts that matter most elsewhere. If you only ever bought ParakeetAI credits, there is no plan to cancel.

Common questions

What is the best ParakeetAI alternative?

PiriPiri AI is our pick (we make it) for English-language interviews when price is the reason you are leaving. It keeps the no-subscription model but costs about $2.50 per interview on its entry pack, where ParakeetAI charges $38 for a single one-hour credit and reaches $11.80 an hour only in its $177 pack. It is English only and desktop only. For a long interview or another language, Ophy AI’s $9.99 one-time pass covers up to two hours, and for a busy stretch, Final Round AI’s Pro plan, advertised from $25 a month, includes unlimited live sessions.

How much does ParakeetAI cost for one interview?

One ParakeetAI credit covers an hour of call time and costs $38 on its own, or $19.67 a credit in the three-pack at $59. The lowest rate, $11.80 a credit, comes with the 15-credit pack at $177. These are the prices it shows in the US and UK. Credits are spent at half a credit per 30 minutes and never expire. By comparison, PiriPiri AI costs about $2.50 per interview and Ophy AI’s single Interview Pass is $9.99.

Does ParakeetAI require a subscription?

No. ParakeetAI sells prepaid credits that never expire, so nothing bills you every month. It also sells plans with unlimited call sessions: $78 a week, $149.90 a month, or $599.90 a year. Among the alternatives, PiriPiri AI’s one-time packs and Ophy AI’s Interview Pass also avoid a subscription, and Interview Coder sells a $799 lifetime plan.

Is there a ParakeetAI alternative that works in other languages?

Yes, but not PiriPiri AI, whose speech recognition is English only. Final Round AI lists 143 languages and accents, and Ophy AI lists 35. ParakeetAI itself supports 50+ languages, one per session, so for an interview that is not in English it may be worth staying with ParakeetAI.

Which ParakeetAI alternatives run on Mac and Windows?

PiriPiri AI runs on Apple Silicon Macs and on Windows 10 and 11, as a desktop app only. Final Round AI, Ophy AI, Interview Coder and Cluely also have desktop apps for Mac and Windows, and Ophy adds a browser overlay. ParakeetAI runs on both too, and also in desktop Chrome on Linux.

Is it okay to use an AI assistant in a job interview?

It depends on who is interviewing you. Follow your employer’s or school’s rules, and local laws on recording and consent, before you use PiriPiri AI, ParakeetAI or any similar tool.
