Privacy Policy
Last updated 15 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Vertawo Labs Private Limited (“Vertawo Labs”, “we”, “us” or “our”), the company that operates the PiriPiri AI application and related services (the “Service”), collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data. For the purposes of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable Indian law, Vertawo Labs is the data fiduciary responsible for your personal data. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to this Policy.
Information we collect
- Account data: your email address, display name and a hashed (irreversibly encrypted) password.
- Audio and transcripts: when you start meeting mode or use voice input, the audio you choose to capture is sent to our servers and to our speech-to-text and AI providers to produce transcripts and answers. The resulting transcripts, notes and chat history are stored in your account.
- Usage and billing data: the minutes of audio transcribed and AI tokens consumed, used to meter and bill your use of the Service.
- Payment data: purchases are processed by our payment gateway, Razorpay. We do not collect or store your full card, UPI or bank details — we receive only transaction identifiers, amounts and status.
- Device and log data: limited technical information such as your IP address, app version, operating-system version and diagnostic logs, used to operate, secure and improve the Service.
How we use your data
We process your personal data to:
- provide, maintain and secure the Service and your account;
- transcribe the audio you capture and generate AI-assisted answers and notes;
- meter usage, process payments and prevent fraud or abuse;
- respond to your support requests and communicate with you about the Service;
- comply with our legal, tax and regulatory obligations.
Consent and legal basis
We process your personal data on the basis of the consent you give when you create an account and when you choose to capture audio, and for the other lawful purposes permitted under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us (see “Your rights” below); withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out and may mean you can no longer use parts of the Service.
Recording consent
The Service captures audio from your meetings and conversations, which may include other participants. Recording and wiretap laws vary by jurisdiction and many require the consent of all participants. You are solely responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you and for obtaining any consents required from other participants before capturing audio. With respect to audio of third parties that you choose to capture, you act as the controller of that data and we process it only on your instructions to provide the Service.
Sharing and third-party processors
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers (data processors) who help us operate the Service, under contractual confidentiality and security obligations:
- Speech-to-text and AI providers (currently Deepgram and Groq, which may use OpenAI models) to transcribe audio and generate answers;
- Payment processing by Razorpay;
- Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers that store your account data and transcripts.
We may also disclose data where required by law, court order or a competent authority, or to protect our rights, our users or the security of the Service.
International transfers
Some of our processors (including our speech-to-text and AI providers) are located outside India and may process your data in other countries, such as the United States. Where data is transferred outside India, we rely on your consent and take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected in accordance with this Policy and applicable law.
Retention and deletion
We retain your transcripts, notes and chat history in your account until you delete them or close your account. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing help@vertawo.com from your account email address. We may retain certain records (for example, transaction and tax records) for as long as required to comply with our legal obligations, after which they are deleted or anonymised.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption of data in transit and storage of passwords in hashed form. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct or update it, to request its erasure, to withdraw consent, and to nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity. To exercise any of these rights, email help@vertawo.com from your account email address. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
The Service is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so that we can delete it.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the “last updated” date above and, where changes are material, take reasonable steps to notify you. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
