How to cancel Final Round AI and ask for a refund

If you want out of Final Round AI, there are two separate jobs, and doing only one of them is an easy mistake to make. Cancelling stops the next charge. It does not give back the last one. To get money back you also have to email them, and by Final Round AI’s own policy you have 72 hours from the charge to do it. Here is the short version:

  1. Cancel in Settings, then Account & Billing, then Manage subscription, and finish the steps in the portal that opens.
  2. Take a screenshot that shows the plan is cancelled, with the date.
  3. If you were charged in the last 72 hours, email a refund request the same day. A ready-to-copy message is further down.
  4. If a charge arrives after you cancelled, stop the payment at your bank and ask for that charge back.
  5. Keep every email and receipt until the money is back in your account.

Every policy point below comes from Final Round AI’s own pages, which we opened on 4 November 2026. Policies change, so open the same pages yourself before you rely on them.

“Very disappointing billing experience”

Trustpilot review title, Kateryna Rudich, 12 September 2026

We make PiriPiri AI, another interview copilot, so we have an interest. We introduce PiriPiri AI near the end. You can follow the cancel and refund steps whether or not you use it.

What does Final Round AI’s refund policy actually say?

The rules live on its refund policy page, which said “Last Updated: October 8th, 2026” when we read it on 4 November 2026. The Terms of Use point to it and say subscription fees are generally not refundable except as that policy or the law allows. These are the parts that decide whether you get money back.

The 72 hour money-back window

The policy calls it a 3-Day Money-Back Guarantee. It covers all plans, and it covers both your first purchase and a renewal charge. You qualify if you ask within 72 hours of the charge, your account shows no “substantial use” in the current billing period, and you have not had the guarantee before. One helpful detail: the policy says the clock stops when you send your request, not when they reply. A slow answer cannot push you out of the window.

What “substantial use” means

Several refusals described in reviews we read point to this rule. The policy page defines it as two or more interview sessions in the current billing period, each lasting strictly more than 30 minutes. A session of exactly 30 minutes does not count towards it. The period it looks at runs from the start of the billing period to the day you send your request.

In plain words: one long session is fine, and any number of short ones are fine. Two sessions over half an hour each, and the guarantee is gone for that charge.

Once per customer

The guarantee can be used once per customer, across all accounts and plans. The policy adds that only a refund actually paid uses it up, so a request that was declined or that you withdrew does not count. If you got a refund from Final Round AI before, do not expect a second one under this rule.

Fees and timing

Approved refunds go back to the original payment method, which the policy says takes 5 to 7 business days, though banks can take longer. For card payments made through Stripe, the payment processor, the policy says unrecovered processing fees may be taken off the refund and listed in the confirmation. So a refund under the guarantee may be a little less than you paid.

After 72 hours

Past the window, the policy says payments are generally final. It lists three exceptions: refunds the law requires, duplicate or wrong charges caused by Final Round AI, which it says it corrects at any time with no fee taken off, and verified technical problems where there was no substantial use, decided case by case. If you were charged twice, or charged after a cancellation that went through, that second exception is the one to point to.

Where the wording does not match

Final Round AI also publishes a blog post explaining the policy, and it words the usage rule differently. It describes “three or more sessions, or any single session lasting 30 minutes or more” as meaningful use. That is not the same test as the policy page we read in November. The policy has been updated since the summer, so we cannot say which wording applied to earlier refusals. One reviewer, Nasim Jani, titled a Trustpilot review on 16 July 2026: they “refused my refund using a ‘fewer than 3 sessions’ rule that appears nowhere in their published policy”. The two addresses differ too. The policy page names hi@finalroundai.com for refund requests, and the FAQ and the blog name support@finalroundai.com.

What to do with that: treat the refund policy page as the document you quote. It is the one the Terms of Use link to. Take a screenshot of it with the date showing on the day you ask, and send your email to both addresses.

How do you cancel Final Round AI, step by step?

The cancel route is the same on the policy page and in the FAQ, as we found them on 4 November 2026.

  1. Sign in with the same account you paid with. The FAQ says the subscription belongs to the account used for the purchase.
  2. Open Settings, then Account & Billing.
  3. Click Manage subscription. This opens a secure billing portal in your browser.
  4. Choose to cancel and confirm it in the portal. The FAQ is direct about this: “opening it alone does not cancel anything.”
  5. Before you close the page, take a screenshot that shows the plan is cancelled, with the date visible. Then go back into the portal once more and check it still says so.
  6. Save the confirmation email. If none arrives, your screenshot is your record.

Do it before the renewal date. The Terms of Use say the subscription “will continue and renew automatically until terminated”, and “You must cancel your subscription before it renews.” You can also cancel the day you buy. The policy says cancelling stops future charges and leaves you the period already paid, so cancelling early costs you nothing and removes the risk of forgetting.

What reviewers reported about cancelling

Several reviews we read describe a cancel that did not seem to stick, or a cancel that people expected to bring a refund. A reviewer who signed as alzok wrote on 19 August 2026 that “simply clicking “Cancel” in their UI is not enough”, because getting money back also takes an email inside 72 hours. That matches the policy, which says cancelling does not by itself count as a refund request. Another, Carlos E Bendfeldt, wrote on 22 October 2026 that he cancelled on the website before his renewal date and was then charged on that date and again a month later. “I had a very difficult time canceling my recurring Final Round AI subscription”, he wrote, and he advised others to keep their cancellation records. We cannot see what happened in either account. The lesson is the same either way: get proof the cancel went through, and check your statement after the renewal date.

Is there an App Store or Google Play subscription to cancel?

We found no official Final Round AI app in the App Store or Google Play, and the FAQ says checkout opens in your browser. We did find an app with a similar name that belongs to another company. One App Store app is named “Interview AI” with the subtitle “Final round AI interview prep”, and its listing names the seller as CREATIVEENJOYMENT TECH PTE. LTD., not Final Round AI’s company. If a subscription with a similar name shows in your phone’s subscription list, check the seller name. If it is another company, cancel it there and ask that store for a refund, because Final Round AI’s support cannot reach it. Our guide on whether an interview copilot is worth it has the Apple and Google refund routes.

Not sure which company charged you? Look at the name on your bank or card statement and at the receipt email. The refund policy names the company as Pump Labs Inc., doing business as Final Round AI, in San Francisco.

How do you stop the next charge if cancelling did not work?

Cancel with the company first, always. Then, if a renewal is coming and you do not trust the cancel, or a charge has already arrived after it, stop the money at your end too.

Blocking a payment is not the same as cancelling, and it does not refund anything. You still need the cancel on your account and, if you want money back, the email. It does stop a charge you never agreed to while you sort the rest out.

How do you ask Final Round AI for a refund?

Send it the same day. The policy gives 72 hours, and a request sent on time keeps your place even if they ask for more details later. It asks for four things: your account email, the date of the charge, the plan type, and a reason. The blog post adds that no video or technical evidence is needed. Send one email to hi@finalroundai.com and support@finalroundai.com together.

A message you can copy

Subject: Refund request under the 3-Day Money-Back Guarantee

Hello,

I am asking for a full refund of the charge of [amount] on [date], under the 3-Day Money-Back Guarantee in your Refund Policy (last updated 8 October 2026). I am sending this within 72 hours of the charge.

Account email: [email]. Plan: [monthly, quarterly or annual]. Reason: [one or two plain sentences].

I have not used the service substantially as your policy defines it. I have cancelled the subscription, and I attach a screenshot of the cancellation and the receipt.

Please confirm the refund and the amount. Thank you.

If the charge came after you cancelled, change the first paragraph. Say you cancelled on [date], attach the proof, and ask for the charge to be corrected as an erroneous charge. The policy says those are fixed at any time, outside the 72 hour window and the usage rule.

What to attach and keep

Keep the reason short and factual. “It did not work for my interviews” is enough. The blog post says the reason for not using it does not change the decision. Keep the email factual and include the relevant dates.

If a bot answers

Several reviewers say they only reached an automated agent. alzok quoted the bot as writing “I also can’t route this to a human agent.” Erencan wrote on 23 July 2026 that “every attempt to contact support resulted only in AI-generated responses.” The policy says contacting Customer Success first is optional, and that you do not have to wait for its reply before requesting a refund. So do not get stuck in a chat. The email to the refund address is the request that counts. Write “refund request” in the subject so it cannot be read as a general question.

What if Final Round AI says no?

The policy says a refused request comes with a reason, and that you can ask for it to be looked at again. Do that once, in writing, and answer the reason directly. If they say you used it too much, ask which sessions they counted and how long each one ran, and compare that with the policy’s test of two sessions strictly over 30 minutes.

It can work. One reviewer, Alexandra, wrote on 29 June 2026 that she was charged for an automatic renewal and asked for a refund. The company’s reply on the page, dated the next day, says “we incorrectly treated the auto-renewal as a “repurchase.”” and that it refunded her in full and cancelled the plan. In another reply, to Erencan, the company said the usage recorded on the account was above the threshold. So a clear question about which rule they used is worth asking.

Then the card dispute

If you were charged after cancelling and the company will not fix it, or nobody answers within about a week, contact your card issuer and open a dispute. Give it your cancellation proof, the receipt, and your emails with dates. Banks set their own deadlines for disputes, so ask yours how long you have and do not wait months.

Keep it as the last step. Your bank will usually want to see that you asked the seller first, so the dated emails above are part of your case.

Your rights depend on where you live

The Terms of Use send legal disputes to arbitration under Delaware law and ask you to email notice first. They also say this does not limit consumer rights that cannot be waived, or your right to complain to a regulator. In the EU, the usual 14 day right to withdraw from an online purchase can end once digital content is supplied, but only if you agreed to that at checkout. In the US, the FTC’s “click to cancel” rule was struck down in July 2025, and a dispute with your card issuer is one route open to you. Carlos E Bendfeldt also wrote that he filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Our copilot buying guide has the sources for these points.

Why do people get billed for a year when they saw a monthly price?

This is the second big group of complaints, and Final Round AI’s own FAQ carries the warning: “A displayed average monthly price is not necessarily a monthly charge.” It tells you to check the final amount at checkout. An “average monthly” figure on a longer plan is that plan’s total divided by its months. You pay the total on the day.

Kai, from the UK, wrote on 8 September 2026 that a low monthly rate was advertised, but at checkout “they bill your card upfront for a full annual subscription” instead of month to month. Daniel Legwen wrote on 15 October 2026 that he signed up for the yearly plan, “so I am stuck with it. Tried to get a refund but no luck.” And Kateryna Rudich wrote on 12 September 2026: “I thought I was starting a free trial but was charged”. Final Round AI’s homepage says there is no free trial, and it lists a free plan and a Pro plan from $25/mo. Its free plan is for setting up and preparing; the homepage says live sessions need an active Pro subscription.

Michael Amend Jr wrote on 8 October 2026 that he “couldn’t even find a clearly visible link to the refund policy on the subscription or payment pages.” With any tool, open the refund policy in another tab before you pay, not after.

If you were charged for a year by mistake, the 72 hour rule is your best chance. Ask straight away, before you open the copilot for a long session, because two sessions over half an hour each would put you past the usage limit.

Is Final Round AI worth keeping?

For some people, yes. It is a real product from a real company, Pump Labs Inc., and it has fans. Hannah, a five star reviewer, wrote on 2 June 2026 that “the latency is crazy low”. Sadaf Jamal wrote on 10 February 2026 that it is “super easy to use and mock interview it will give you real feel”, and Manya Shree, on 29 December 2025, praised the mock interview features for technical and non technical rounds. It runs as a desktop app on Mac and Windows, and its FAQ says the current desktop plan has no session quota or minute balance that runs down.

The worry in the low reviews is reliability as well as billing. Kai wrote that the live copilot “either freezes, provides delayed responses, or gives completely irrelevant suggestions during actual calls”. Daniel Legwen said that after moving to the desktop app it let him down more than ten times and he gave up. When we looked, the Trustpilot page showed 2.8 out of 5 from 280 reviews.

Here is how to decide whether to keep it. If it works on your laptop, you use it for weeks of interviews, and you are on the billing period you meant to buy, keep it, and cancel the renewal now so you decide again later. If you have two or three interviews left and you are not sure it helps, ask for the refund inside the window instead of hoping it gets better.

What should you check before buying any interview tool?

Most of the trouble above could happen with any subscription tool. Run these checks before you enter a card, ours included.

Then test the tool itself on the setup you will use: a mock call with a friend on the same laptop, headset and meeting app. Our guide to whether a copilot is worth it lists seven checks for that call, from hearing both voices to staying hidden on a shared screen.

What to do next if you still want interview help

If you cancelled because paying a subscription for a few interviews did not make sense, you do not have to give up on live help. PiriPiri AI is built the other way round.

We have refund rules too, and you should read them before buying, the same as anyone’s. In short, an unused pack can be refunded within a set window, and a used one generally cannot, except when a fault on our side spoiled a session. The full wording is on our refund policy page. On a Mac, hearing the interviewer needs macOS 14.2 or later.

Questions people ask

Does cancelling Final Round AI give me my money back?

No. Its refund policy and FAQ both say that cancelling only stops future renewals. It does not refund the period you have paid for, and it does not count as a refund request. To ask for money back you have to email them as well, within 72 hours of the charge.

How long do I have to ask Final Round AI for a refund?

The refund policy, last updated 8 October 2026, gives 72 hours from the charge, for both a first purchase and a renewal. The clock stops when you send your email, not when they answer, so send it the same day you notice the charge.

What counts as "substantial use" on Final Round AI?

The refund policy says two or more interview sessions in the current billing period that each lasted strictly more than 30 minutes. A session of exactly 30 minutes does not count. Final Round AI’s own blog words the rule differently, so quote the policy page in your email.

I cancelled Final Round AI but was charged again. What now?

Email both addresses with your cancellation screenshot or email and the date, and ask for the charge to be refunded. At the same time stop the payment at your bank: cancel the recurring mandate or ask for a new card number. If no answer comes, open a dispute with your card issuer and attach your records.

Can I cancel Final Round AI in the App Store or Google Play?

We found no official Final Round AI app in either store; its FAQ says checkout opens in your browser. One similarly named App Store app we found belongs to another company. If a subscription like that shows in your phone’s subscription list, check the seller name. If it is not Final Round AI, cancel it in that list and ask that store for a refund.

Is Final Round AI a scam?

It is a working product from a real company, Pump Labs Inc., and it has happy users who praise its speed and mock interviews. Most one star reviews we read are about billing, refunds and support, not about the software being fake. Read the checkout and the refund terms closely before paying.
